Last year's fixture was cancelled due to Covid-19.
Tighthead prop and 2021 Gisborne first 15 captain Nathaniel Hauiti and his 29-man wider squad have been training hard since last week's loss to Lindisfarne.
There is enthusiasm and energy in this group.
Hauiti's senior players — such as vice-captain, lock and their Most Valuable Player v Lindisfarne, Max Briant — have banded together.
“All the boys are keen to get on the pitch,” said Hauiti. “We want lightning quick ball because, knowing Kelston, they'll be big boys. With our high fitness levels, we'll try our best to tire them out.”
Isaia Lemaua comes in at centre for Von Huata, who injured his left knee against Lindisfarne.
The first-five, second-five pairing of brothers Carlos and Puna Hihi promises much.
“The focus at this stage is to get the little things right for later on down the track,” said coach Tapsell. “That's what I'm focused on and the boys have trained well this week — ticked off our work-ons.”
