YMP A and THC had solid victories in men’s hockey at Harry Barker Reserve last night but the opposition put up good fights in both games.

The top YMP men’s team defeated Gisborne Boys’ High School 8-0.

“That is not a bad result for the students against the pinnacle men’s side in the competition,” hockey commentator Tony Scragg said.

“To hold YMP to under double figures was a very good effort.”

In the other game, THC beat YMP B 6-2.

“Well done, YMP B . . . they really made THC work for it,” Scragg said.

“It was a fantastic effort by them, and to score twice themselves . . . even better.

“For THC, the win keeps them right up there with YMP A in that men’s competition.”
