LYTTON Old Boys A rebounded from their loss last weekend but LOB Masters were hammered in the opening matches of Round 10 in the men’s hockey competition on the LJ Hooker turf at Harry Barker Reserve last night.

The Masters were trounced 17-0 by YMP A, who remain unbeaten in the men’s competition.

“It was obvious the Masters were going to be on the receiving end when they were down by five goals after just 10 minutes,” commentator Tony Scragg said.

“YMP played a surperb passing game and took a 10-0 lead into halftime.

“Their style of play changed in the second half when they played more individually. YMP A are clearly the best team in the men’s competition.”

In the other match, LOB A beat YMP B 6-0.

“It was still not a convincing performance from LOB A,” Scragg said.

“They still have work to do on their game but I am sure they will take the points they earned last night.”

Three more games will be played on the turf tomorrow afternoon. The best should be the match between GMC Kowhai and GMC Green at 1pm.
