“Tomorrow could be a repeat of last Saturday, but add the pressure of semifinals time and anything could happen,” netball commentator Sherrill Beale said.
The losers tomorrow finish fourth this season.
“We have a good vibe in the camp at the moment but semifinals are a whole new ball game,” HSOG coach Tanya Owen said.
“We expect Waikohu to come out firing, and we have to make sure we are ready for it.
“The focus this week has been on forgetting about what happened against Waikohu last Saturday,” Owen said.
“This is a whole new game, and that’s what we are focused on.”
She said the big win last Saturday lifted the girls’ spirits.
“They needed that after a couple of losses, and they are in a good head space ahead of tomorrow.”
Waikohu coach Cheryl Te Rito said she could see her team doing a lot better than they did last weekend.
“We are not that fussed about the loss to High School Old Girls,” she said.
“The match that matters is the one tomorrow.
“The girls are quite confident. They know they can do it. They just need to maintain focus and play as a team.”
Te Rito said her team were looking forward to it.
“Win or lose, we still finish in the top four.”
In the earlier match, at 9am, the bottom-three premier playoffs continue with Gisborne Girls’ High School Senior A in action against Champers Horouta Gold.
Horouta will be pumped after their win against Ritana Senior A on Wednesday night.
After languishing at the bottom of the table all season, Horouta have a chance to finish fifth.
“There have been close games between these two teams all season,” Beale said.
“I am expecting the same on Saturday, especially with Horouta’s confidence running high after their win on Wednesday night.”
Beale said the senior-grade semifinals at Victoria Domain should all be “very competitive”.
The courts will be busy from 9.30am to 12.15pm.
