Gisborne's Kayley Knight was in Christchurch this week to play in the first games for the newly formed New Zealand under-19 women's cricket team.

The team's first three games were on successive days against the New Zealand Police women's team.

In the first game, on Monday, Knight took one wicket for 22 runs off seven overs as the police posted 150, a total the u19s chased down with two wickets in hand.

In Tuesday's match, she took 1-18 off four overs as her team dismissed the police for 136, chasing 255.

Knight did not bat in either match, and missed the final game due to illness.

This weekend, she is in Hamilton to play for Northern Spirit in a Hallyburton Johnstone Shield match against Otago Sparks at Seddon Park.

Her next games for the national u19 team will be against a New Zealand provincial select in Hamilton on March 29 and 30, and April 1.
