POVERTY Bay started their Northern Districts junior secondary schools cricket tournament with three losses in Manurewa this week.
Chasing Bay of Plenty Coastlands’ 115-6, Poverty Bay were 67-8 at the end of their 20 overs. Drew Scott top-scored with 21.
The Bay also lost to Counties Manukau, who posted 147-4
before restricting the Bay to 84-9.
Despite a superb 121 off 133 balls from Thorn Parkes in a 50-over game yesterday, the Bay lost to Waikato Valley.
Parkes’s innings included 17 fours as he found the gaps brilliantly to lead his side to 198 in 48.4 overs.
