It's the innings of the season to date.

Caleb Taewa's unbeaten 73 on Saturday was a gem.

The highest individual score made in the Junior Colts Grade on either side of Christmas, 11-year-old Caleb's knock was the first Colts Grade half-century since the resumption.

Bollywood High School Old Boys Pups captain Taye McGuinness, having won the toss, opted to bat v the Tairawhiti Women's Cricket Club Hortigro Colts and with the Pups 3-18 with two balls remaining in the eighth over, the right-handed Taewa came out at No.5. He retired during the course of his innings having faced 30 balls but as the first of three “retirees”, returned to the wicket by right — batsmanship intact — timing and placing the ball skilfully.

“From when he first came out, Caleb upped the run rate by dropping and running, but he also played some great cover drives and pull-shots,” said TWCC assistant coach and Northern Spirit A representative Kayley Knight.
