Former East Coast captain and Maori All Black Horace Lewis died this week.

His rugby career can be summarised as follows — 1987: Poverty Bay (GMC) 6 games. 1991/92/95/99: North Harbour (Glenfield, Marist) 12 games, 3 tries, 14 points. 1992: Northern Maori. 1992: New Zealand Maori. 1993: Otago (Alhambra-Union). 1993: Otago XV, 3 games. 1996/98: Hawke’s Bay (Hastings Sports) 13 games, 2 tries. 1997: Central Vikings (Hastings Sports) 3 games. 1999/2000/01/02/03/04/05/06/07/08/09: Ngati Porou East Coast (Marist, North Harbour; Hastings Sports, Hawke’s Bay; Hikurangi) 87 games, 14 tries. 2000: Poverty Bay-East Coast, captain, 1 try. Poverty Bay-East Coast versus Scotland, Rugby Park, Gisborne, June 13, 2000. Career: 129 games, 20 tries, 99pts. Position: Flanker.
