BRIAN Leach’s Cossie DONE & Dusted continue to march through the club darts ranks with little regard for whoever comes up against them. This week, RSA’s Rose & Thorns succumbed 11-4.

Sha Hohipa, fresh from a singles victory at the North Island Masters, led at point with the young Lee Tamihana to open with a win against RSA’s Gary Grant and Chae Whaitiri.

They went on to secure a second win, against RSA anchors Zac Smith and skipper Kelly Cribb.

The dominance of Cossie’s mid-pairing of Matt Reedy and Wayne Tamihana stood out. They had five wins from five and conceded only a single leg all night. At the turn, each of the Rose & Thorns pairings managed a win to trail 6-3 at the turn.

Hohipa again showed why she is ranked the No.2 female dart player in New Zealand with an error-free victory over Grant. Hohipa started her 100-plus scoring with a 180 and concluded with another.

Lee Tamihana just couldn’t finish against the ever-competitive Chae Whaitiri, who secured the only singles win for RSA.

Matt Reedy topped the overall 100-plus scores for the night with 12. He overcame the ageless Arthur Bacon. Reedy’s performance was matched by Wayne Tamihana, who toppled RSA’s Mark Stenning.

Inspirational Cossie leader Brian Leach defeated Zac Smith, then anchorwoman Karlia Waikawa ended the evening with a 2-0 victory over RSA counterpart Cribb.

Done & Dusted take the bye next week.

Winning margins have been closing as players bring their best darts to the contest. This week Joe Kiri’s 2NZ Mavericks and 2NZ Liquorland put on a great contest. It wasn’t until the 15th game that Liquorland’s anchorman, Vern Marshall, squeezed a 2-1 match-winner against another promising youngster, Denise Renata.

After ample repose, Liquorland captain Mo Kapua had to relinquish the bench and in doing so proved his worth, contributing to three of his team’s wins.

National dartsSha Hohipa — along with a half a dozen other local players — travelled to the Hastings Dart Club to compete in the North Island Masters Singles which is a New Zealand Darts Council ranking tournament.

Reaching the final, Hohipa defeated No.4-ranked Northland player Jo Stead. Sha sits on 40 points, three behind another of Gisborne’s best, Tina Osborne.

Nyoka Fox also competed brilliantly, finishing fifth-equal alongside Osborne.

Gisborne’s Leroy Eyles also earned ranking recognition, finishing in the men’s top 16, which was won by No.1-ranked Capital player Craig Caldwell in a final against an in-form Aucklander, Cody Harris, who is ranked second.
