Nic Hendrie, Poverty Bay Cricket Association’s operations manager, who plays club cricket in Bay of Plenty, has helped his club win the Northern Districts (ND) club championship.
His Tauranga club, Greerton, will represent ND in this year’s National Club Championships after they won the northern club final against Northland representatives
Kamo.
After Greerton lost their first wicket with the total at 15, Hendrie and Tom Renouf added 121 runs for the second wicket.
Hendrie, who plays for Poverty Bay and Northern Districts A, made 54. But the team’s last three batsmen were run out, and Greerton were restricted to 198. Nevertheless, that turned out to be a winning total. Kamo were dismissed for 135.
Former Poverty Bay player Josh Bates took 3-17 for Greerton.
