HOROUTA Waka Hoe Club’s 20th anniversary year has got off to a great start.

The club won the Matapihi Trophy for most points at the Waka Ama Sprint Nationals at Lake Karapiro last month.

Horouta teams and individuals made 85 appearances in finals at the national sprint championships.

Each appearance in a final brought the club points — one to eight, depending on the final placing of the competitors.

Now paddlers are focusing on the world championships in Tahiti in July.
