Good turnout, great racing

A good crowd and a good turnout of karts made for some great racing on Sunday at Eastland Kart Club’s first points meeting of its eighth season.

Racing was close in the Young Guns class. Vinzent MacGregor won two races and Brodie Gooch won the other. Hamish Worsnop was right in the mix, as well.

Shanan Gooch won all three Rotax class races.

In the Junior KTs, Daniel Tamanui, Zavier Iremonger and Toby Gooch had wins.

In the Rookie class for drivers five to eight years old, Nixon Gooch had two wins and Conrad Gooch had one.

Aaron Whiteman, Wayvern Vause and Dion Lund had wins in the KT Heavies for drivers weighing over 85 kilograms.

In the KT class, wins went to Spring Thomson, Toby White and Daniel Taylor. Seth Iremonger moved up to this class and picked up a second placing and two fourths. He will be one to watch.

In the women’s class, wins went to Nicola Iremonger (two) and Aimee Whiteman. Lyn Lyle had a third placing in her first points meeting.

In the Proclass, wins were shared between Cole Rosie and Harley Davies.

Sixteen karts lined up for an all-in mixed-class race at the end of the meeting. Roger Moss rolled his kart for the first time in a few years. He was unhurt.

Tara Whiteman won the race, with Shanan Gooch close behind.

A test-and-tune day will be held on Sunday at the club’s Aerodrome Road track.
