Cody Gooch drove his 6G car to victory in the Streetstock Champion of Champions at MTF Gisborne Awapuni Speedway on Saturday night.

Gooch took family bragging rights in the Stone Transport & Hiab-sponsored event, heading off brother Sean (78G) with Duncan Pierce (983G) third.

The youth ministock drivers put on a good show in their Mangapapa Garage Best Pairs competition.

The junior division were Josh Coates (7G) and Arie Cuthbert (74G), with Conrad Gooch (6G) and Zane Moiser (42G) runners-up, and Zach Chiles (44G) and Thomas Webb (47G) third.

The senior honours went the way of Brad O’Connell-Bacon (11G) and Troy Peach (23B) from Hawke’s Bay.

Runners-up were Malachi McIndoe (78G) and Hamish Worsnop (87G), while Ella Jensen (4G) and Vinzent MacGregor (5B) were third.

The Youth Ministock Driver of the Night was 74G Arie Cuthbert, and the Hard Luck prize went to 128G Leah Rees.

Gisborne Speedway Club’s final meeting of the season is a doubleheader on April 10-11.

Featuring over those nights will be the Advanced Automotive 1200cc championships, which as of today had attracted more than 70 entries in the senior section and 30 in the junior class.

The City Smart Repairs Superstock Points Dash and the McCafferty Metal Cartage Superstock Champion of Champions are also scheduled, along with the Stockcar Classic and the Sutherland Automotive Kevin McKay Memorial for TQ midgets.

The meeting will conclude with another big fireworks show, sponsored by Jukes Carriers Ltd.
