ENTERPRISE Cars Swim Team teenagers Jack Keepa and Ava Smith were in medal-winning personal-best form on Day 1 of the New Zealand short-course championships in Auckland yesterday.
Keepa won gold in the 14-year boys’ 100 metres breaststroke in a personal-best (PB) 1 minute 9.31 seconds, and bronze in the 400mindividual medley in 4:48.06.
Smith won silver in the 15yr girls’ 100m breaststroke in 1:14.13 — a two-second PB.
The age-group titles are timed finals held in the morning, and are also qualifying races for the evening’s open finals.
Keepa followed up his morning medals with eighth placing in the men’s 100m breaststroke C final in 1:09.99. Smith was 10th in the women’s 100m breaststroke B final in 1:16.16.
