Mollie Mulrooney, Torepe Taumaunu-Kingi and Tori Williams played well, scoring a goal each, but it was a team effort, Mulrooney said.
Other scorers included Olivia Scott (two), Liz Hall, Larisa Mahns and goalie Erin Sycamore, who scored with a penalty.
“The game was well controlled by referee Mel Knight,” Mulrooney said.
Gisborne Girls’ High School had a 7-0 win against Lytton High School.
Girls’ High coach Matt Pierard said his side kept the ball moving, creating lots of chances.
“The girls played some nice football . . . they are getting a lot better at supporting each other.”
Girls’ High had a rough start but have risen to sit second on the table, behind Thistle. These two teams meet on Sunday.
“We will see if they can be a little bit more composed this weekend,” Pierard said.
Renee Holmes scored four goals, and Tyler Andrews, Kamaia Pomana and Maddison Reid scored a goal each.
Tatapouri Marist beat Campion College 3-0. Emily Willock and Kim-Maree Larby were outstanding. Willock scored two goals and Larby one.
Bohemians had the bye.
Thistle still lead the table, followed by Girls’ High, Marist, United, Lytton, Campion College and Bohemians.
