Jaxon Pardoe and Lenny Quinn were double winners in the main arena.
Quinn (10) won the U12 and U14 boys’ divisions, and national age group champion Pardoe (14) won the U16 and U18 boys’ divisions.
“Both boys displayed progressive high-performance surfing consistently throughout the day and delighted the crowd of onlookers by landing spectacular aerial manoeuvres,” organisers said.
“This prompted the contest organisers to announce an award for the best aerial of the contest.”
Quinn, Pardoe and Archie Alder (14) stepped up to the challenge.

“Pardoe became the clear-cut winner by completing two back-to-back aerials in the same heat.”
East Coast Surfriders spokesman Nigel Abercrombie said the standard of surfing kept getting better.
“After Lenny [Quinn] landed his first aerial, a new award brought a whole new progressive style of surfing to the event.”

The Frost Fest was donated a painted Kahawai artwork by Gisborne Boys’ High School art teacher and local artist Brett Summerlee, presented to the young surfer deemed ”the friskiest frother".
“It was awarded to Sibelle McGregor, who was recognised as the kid having the most fun in the waves and surfing to the best of her ability throughout the day,” Abercrombie said.
East Coast Surfriders was grateful to sponsors Specsavers and Sunshine Brewery.
“A big thanks also goes to all our parents and helpers: Geoff and Sarah Pardoe, Bree and Daniel Crichton, Matt Tong, Ainsley Gunness, Jacob Kohn, Hannah Kohn, Derek Fryer, Claire and Mags.
“We also thank Brett Summerlee, Stan Scott, King Bees, Sun People Co, Derek Fryer and Sticky Johnson for donating trophies and prizes.”
