Poverty Bay-East Coast representatives won two out of three trophies up for grabs on their visit to Mount Maunganui.

Tauranga comfortably won the main trophy on offer – the Hone Trophy, contested by PBEC, Tauranga, Thames Valley and King Country – but Poverty Bay-East Coast played well throughout the eight hours of competition and won the Boothby/Lynn trophy against Thames Valley and the Friendship Cup against King Country.

The following day, Poverty Bay-East Coast travelled to Whakatāne for games against Whakatāne , Rotorua and Matamata/Thames Valley. Whakaāne won the tournament, Matamata/Thames Valley were second and the Bay, third.

Dylan Foster, Malcolm Trowell, Zoe Trowell and Karyn Foster were undefeated in the New Zealand Mixed Fours local final. They now go on to the zone final against Thames Valley, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Tauranga in July.

The Trowell father/daughter and Foster mother/son combination played superbly to beat Warren Gibb, David Lynn, Marise Raklander and Lois Lamont in the local final.
