GISBORNE Harriers Club will commemorate their 75th anniversary with a weekend of celebration at the end of this month.
Festivities start with a sunrise run on Friday morning and end with the club's final trial run on their 2021 calendar on Sunday, October 31.
There are events throughout the weekend, with a night run-or-walk on Friday that's suitable for the whole family. The night run, which the club started running earlier this year, has become a family favourite with the gooey marshmallows cooked over a bonfire.
Saturday night will see the running shoes repurposed as dancing shoes as the club hosts a party at their clubrooms with a formal dress and running shoe theme.
The club have reserved their popular trial run through the Eastwoodhill Arboretum to coincide with the celebrations. They have previously had to limit registrations to 100 people, but Covid restrictions have been lifted and with over 100 people already registering their interest on Facebook, they expect it to be their busiest event of the year.
Entry fees to the arboretum are waived and attendees are encouraged to make a day of exploring the grounds or having a picnic.
Tickets are required for Saturday night's party and Sunday's trial run, with links that can be found on the Gisborne Harriers Club Facebook page. Friday's sunrise run and night run are both free. Non-club members are welcome at all events.
