Gisborne's Tessa McDonald and Ellen Ball made emphatic starts to the women's national interprovincial golf championship in Bay of Plenty this morning.
McDonald, at No.1 in the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay team, and Ball, at No.2, brushed aside their opponents in a 4-1 team matchplay victory over Aorangi on the Taurangacourse.
McDonald beat Angela Gerken 6 and 5 while Ball disposed of Lynda Brown by the same margin.
HBPB No.4 Kayla Van De Ven was even more convincing in thrashing her opponent 8 and 7, while No.5 Clare Choi won 3 and 2.
