JACK Faulkner had a good season in goal for Gisborne United in Pacific Premiership football this year, but he is not putting his feet up with the onset of warmer weather.
He is an all-rounder for Gisborne Boys’ High School in local cricket, and is still playing football — forthe youth team of Wellington powerhouse club Miramar Rangers.
At the weekend he played for Miramar in the Napier City Rovers under-19 national youth tournament at Park Island, Napier.
Competing in the main draw, Miramar drew 0-0 with Manurewa, lost 2-1 to Island Bay United, beat Hamilton Wanderers 1-0, beat Tauranga City 1-0, beat Tawa 1-0 and lost a quarterfinal against eventual runners-up Waitakere City 2-1.
A Gisborne United teammate of Faulkner, striker Josh Adams, played for Napier City Rovers in the satellite draw of the u19 tournament.
City Rovers drew 0-0 with Oratia United, beat Taupo 2-1, drew 1-1 with Bucklands Beach, beat Seatoun 3-2, won a quarterfinal against Stop Out 2-1 and lost a semifinal against eventual winners Havelock North 3-2.
Another Gisborne player, Ian Cutler, played for Napier Marist in the satellite draw of the tournament.
Marist drew 1-1 with Papakura City, beat Wainuiomata 3-0, drew 0-0 with Stop Out and lost 1-0 to Franklin United.
