Gisborne-East Coast reps named for National Intercentre Champs in Wellington

Bowls Gisborne East-Coast has named its representative teams for the National Intercentre Championships in Wellington from tomorrow to Sunday.

The GEC centre men's selector and manager Ben Brown has named the following players: Jamey Ferris, Bob McIlroy, Charlie Ure, Paul Harrison and Steve Goldsbury (Gisborne Bowling Club), Leighton Shanks (Kahutia), Mick Maunder and Ben Elkington (Tolaga Bay).

Jamey Ferris will play the singles.

Paul Harrison and Leighton Shanks will contest the pairs, after their victory in the men's pairs in the Kapiti Coast octagonal tournament recently.

The four will be Bob McIlroy (skip), Charlie Ure (director), Mick Maunder (two) and Steve Goldsbury (lead).

GEC centre women's selector and manager Bobbie Beattie has chosen: Carol Hawes, Tanya Harrison, Dayvinia Mills and Lyn Trueman (Gisborne), Paige Richter and Lucy Shanks (Kahutia), Anita Vaotuua (Poverty Bay) and Jasmine Merrick (Te Karaka).

Tanya Harrison will play the singles, and Lucy Shanks and Dayvinia Mills will contest the women's pairs.

In the women's fours, Carol Hawes will skip Jasmine Merrick (director), Anita Vaotuua (two) and Paige Richter (lead).

Changes have been made to the Conditions of Play for this competition. Teams are able (but not required) to include an eighth player, allowing for a change of playing members of a squad between rounds.

Ben Elkington and Lyn Trueman have been named as the eighth player in the teams.
