Cycling

Gisborne Cycling Club events — visitors and new cyclists welcome.

Saturday — Club ride (no racing) from the Taruheru Cemetery in Nelson Road, starting at 1.30pm. Most rides are 90 minutes to three hours long, at a comfortable pace for all.

Sunday — Group ride at 8am from Avantiplus Maintrax. This is a friendly group ride for anyone wanting to ride with others. Approximate pace will be 25kmh.

Sunday — Gisborne Harrier Club will hold the annual Mud Run at Maclaurins’ Farm, Maclaurin Road (off Back Ormond Road). Hot showers on site. This is a no-waste event — please bring your own drink bottle for drinking water, and keep-cup for coffee cart. Shoes are a must and carpool if you can. Register online at https://www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/21918. Maximum capacity 400. Adults $25, school-age youth $7. Group discount (five or more in a team) $20 adult, $5 school-age child. Harrier club members free but still need to register. Check-in and same-day registrations (if not already capped): 9am to 9.30am. Under-7/8 Mini Mud Run: 10am. Combined start: 10.15am. Prizes for top three best-dressed. Dress up as anything that starts with “M” and “R” (for Mud Run). See Facebook or website for more tips before the big day.
