Makaraka and Makauri schools share the Small Sticks Hockey Festival trophy for being joint winners of the 2018 Big Save Festival three-day tournament in Napier last week.
St Mary’s finished third, and two other Gisborne teams finished in the top half of the 16-team festival.
Teams came from as faraway as Taupo, as well as Gisborne.
Scorers in the final were Kyle Tupara and Dylan Storey for Makaraka, and Chloe Moore and Austin Fergus for Makauri.
