DAVID Solomonn made it three wins from three matches as Poverty Bay-East Coast fell just short of their first team success at the Freyberg masters national interprovincial this morning.
Solomonn, who replaced Stefan Andreassen at No.5 for the round 6 tie against Hawke's Bay, defeated Ross Geary in a 3-2loss to Manawatu-Wanganui.
PBEC No.3 Pete Anderson ended his string of five consecutive losses at No.3 in a roller-coaster clash with Phil Hooper that ended all-square.
No.2 Tony Akroyd also shared the honours with Tony Chettleburgh.
Hawke's Bay won the other two matches - PBEC No.1 Anaru Reedy falling 2 and 1 to Junior Tatana, and No.4 Simon Jeune thrashed 7 and 6 by Rhys Watkins.
PBEC remained 13th in the 15-province field, but faced a must-win round 7 afternoon clash with bottom-of-the-table Otago, who lost 4-1 to Hawke's Bay this morning.
