FORMER Gisborne man Cody Andrews is “pretty excited” and crossing his fingers at the prospect of playing in his first Plunket Shield first-class game tomorrow.
Andrews was today named in the Northern Districts 12 for their Shield game against Auckland at Eden Park, starting tomorrow.
The 28-year-old, who played clubcricket for OBR in Gisborne, is hoping to be among the seamers named in the playing 11 for the third Shield game of the 2015-2016 season.
“The deck up here is pretty good, a bit quicker than other decks around the country,” said Northland-based Andrews, who left Gisborne in 2011 to further his cricket.
His progress was such that he earned a contract with ND this year.
The former Campion College student said he was more excited than nervous about getting a chance to play in a four-day game, having been involved with the squad since the end of last season.
