Murray Michie was clerk of the course for 10 years and before that was a long-time saloon car racer.
“He also mentored his son Curtis in ministocks,” MacGregor said.
“We have dedicated tomorrow’s meeting to Murray and his family.”
Murray Michie was also a stalwart of Eastland Kart Club. Members of that club will drive a lap of honour for him at the speedway tomorrow afternoon.
MacGregor said the race programme had been adjusted because the superstock drivers were unable to race in Gisborne tomorrow afternoon.
It will be the final club points meeting of the season, and competitors will be racing for double points.
“The main and feature race points tables in several classes are extremely tight, so everyone will be out there to get all the points they can,” MacGregor said.
“They will be driving hard.”
The Pit Stop Saloon Car Champion of Champions title goes on the line.
“We expect a dozen cars, with visiting drivers from Mt Maunganui and Hawke’s Bay,” MacGregor said.
Cook brothers Daniel and Ethan have been running hot, particularly in the past month, and their duel for the title will be a treat to watch.
“The saloons will have three races, with accumulated points to decide the champion of champions,” MacGregor said.
“Then they will race a fourth time for the Bruce Ellmers Memorial Trophy.”
The Phil Walsh Memorial Trophy goes on the line, too, for production saloons.
“We will also have stockcars and youth ministocks racing for points,” MacGregor said.
“We have a 20-vehicle street-car series lined up over two races, and then a ramp demolition derby will be held to finish the meeting and our season.”
The Eastland Group Raceway gates open at midday, with racing to start at 1pm.
