Father and son Geoff and Liam Pinn proved unbeatable in winning Kahutia Bowling Club’s junior pairs championship.

Five pairs took part in a round-robin format played in oppressive heat.

Matches were played over two sets, each lasting five ends. If teams won a set each, a tiebreak determined the winners.

Consistency was the key to success for Liam (skip) and his dad.

Their steady teamwork, tactical awareness and ability to close out tight ends resulted in them winning all four of their games for 16 points and 23 ends won.

In second place were Sharon Hohipa (s) and Karen Pinn, who finished with 12 points and 18 ends won.

Third were Kyle Pinn (s) and Malachi Taingahue on 10 points and 20 ends.

Next were Barry Shirley (s) and Salvie Rickard, who also won 20 ends but managed only six points.

Rounding out the field were Kelly Te Miha (s) and Jay Casey. They, too, had six points but after several hard-fought matches they had won only 17 ends.
