‘Fantastic’ weekend for Gisborne riders at show

Gisborne riders had two fantastic days at the Opotiki Show Jumping and Show Hunter event on February 1 and 2.

Larina Dolman, riding Kiwi Lansing, again took out the Harrision Lane Pro Amateur class. They have been in amazing form this year and sit at the top of the national series leaderboard. The combination also won the horse derby class.

Gisborne riders featured well in the Pony Mini Prix with Lily Beaufoy and Jakaranda placing second and Jaime De Costa and Simply Sassy, third.

Beaufoy also picked up a second placing in the 1.15-metre showjumping and a win in the pony 1.10m.

Sarah Frank and Saltire Biscotti were second in the 80cm showjumping, first in the 90cm and first-equal in the 90cm derby.

With Willow she was first-equal in both the 70cm derby and 90cm derby.

Kirsty Harnett, riding her father Wally Moore's horse Ngahiwi Prince, was first-equal in the 90cm derby and first in the 1.10m showjumping.

Fraser Eddowes and Titanium were third in the 1.10m showjumping.

Molly McEwan was well rewarded for her hard work with her pony Pied Piper Alize. They won all four Category A show hunter classes and were first-equal in the pony 70cm derby.

Georgie Coop and pony Billy the Kid picked up two second placings and a fourth in the Category A show hunters.

Jenny Randall and Nero Bello were second in the NRM high-points show hunter and fourth in the champion show hunter.

Shelly Watts and Craighaven French Made picked up several placings in the show hunters, including second in the 90cm, first in the one-metre and third in the amateur.

Lily Torrie and El Zoro were first-equal in the pony 90cm derby.

Gisborne riders dominated the Dunstan Horse Feed Amateur Rider class. Holly Baines and Halo took first place and Shelagh Nolan and Ngahiwi Eyeza Blue were second.

Merran Hain and Untouchable were winners in the Ultimate Egg Company Amateur Show Hunter, NRM 1.10m high points and the champion show hunter.

They were also second in the open 1m class.

Hain is leading the national NRM high-points series and lies second in the Ultimate Egg Company series.

She also competed at the Waikato Show Hunter Group Summer Show held at the National Equestrian Centre, Taupo, on Saturday and Sunday.

Hain and Untouchable won the NRM High Points on the Saturday and were fourth on Sunday. They were also fourth in the Ultimate Egg Company Amateur High Points class.
