THE junior netball competition concluded on Saturday with some keenly contested matches to end another excellent season for the younger brigade.

“Massive congratulations to all of our grade winners and runners-up,” centre manager Allisa Hall said.

“And we want to thank all of the coaches, managers, co-ordinators and supporters who made the season possible for young players.”

Grade results —

Secondary A Grade winners: Lytton Y9A. Runners-up: Gisborne Girls’ High School Y9A.

Secondary B Grade winners: Campion MacKillop. Runners-up: Lytton Senior C.

Secondary C Grade winners: Uawa Hinekiuta. Runners-up: GGHS Mauri.

Secondary D Grade winners: GGHS 9 Wairua. Runners-up: Campion Marcellin.

Intermediate A Grade winners: HSOG Gems. Runners-up: NUAM/Manutuke Tahi.

Intermediate B Grade winners: YMP Rua. Runners-up: NUAM/Manutuke Rua.

Intermediate C Grade winners: Te Tahi Wairoa 2. Runners-up: Eastland Vets Ngatapa 2.

Intermediate D Grade winners: Whangara Pango. Runners-up: Taranga.

¦ The Gisborne Netball Centre under-15 representative team have made the top-four semifinals of the North Island championships in New Plymouth.

On Sunday they beat Otorohanga 27-18, lost to Wairarapa 25-21, then defeated Cambridge 24-13.

Yesterday they defeated Wairapapa 28-27, drew with Eastern Bay of Plenty and beat Hamilton City 27-22.

¦ Te Oriwa Tuipulotu from GGHS Snr A is in the Bay of Plenty Cluster Under-19 team playing at the Netball NZ Championships in Invercargill this week.

¦ A men’s league starts on July 25.

“We are super-excited to finally launch details about our men’s league,” Gisborne Netball Centre manager Allisa Hall said.

“They will play in the Gisborne YMCA. Teams may have secondary or senior players, and may be a mix of the two.”

Registration has started.
