HARD-CHARGING Gisborne Speedway Club driver Ethan Cook (76G) won the New Zealand saloon cars championship at the Meeanee Speedway in Hawke’s Bay last night.

“It means everything to win this title (NZ1) — what a way to bring in the New Year,” Cook said.

Cook’s brother Daniel (77G) also qualified for the finals but a collision in the first of three finals heats cost him a shot at the podium.
