The Gisborne area of Equestrian Sports New Zealand held a show hunter and jumping day last weekend with a great turnout, especially of the lower level of up-and-coming riders.

The APL Showjumping Waikato Festival hosted the North Island Championships at Mystery Creek last weekend and featured local riders Sinead Dolman and Amelia Paull.

Dolman and Kiwi Lansing were first in the 1.20m Welcome Stakes, second in the North Island Horsefeeds Equifibre Junior Rider, and third in the North Island Horse Speed Championships.

Paull, on Platinum Playboy, was fifth in the North Island Pony Riders Equitation 80cm in show hunters.

Hannah Wallbank, with Ahi and Splash of Panache, is joined at the top of the Bernina Sewing Centre Showjumping Leaderboard for ponies by Jamie de Costa, with Silver Star. They are all equal first on 11 points.

Harriet Savage, with Bold as Brass, and Milly Dever, with My Geronimo, are close behind on 10 points.

Bernina Sewing Centre Showjumping for horses has Caroline Richardson and Kiwi Corona in the lead on 30 points, with Fraser Tombleson and Mea 11 second on 27.

Shelagh Nolan and Ngahiwi Eyeza Blue are third on 23. Fraser Tombleson, with Jerry Maclary, and Sinead Dolman, with Kiwi Lansing, are closing in on 21 points each.

In the EJ Gordon Livestock Show Hunter Pony Series, Isobel Bevitt and Wheres Wally are still in the lead with 27 points.

Lily Beaufoy and Glenbrook Barney are second on 17, with Sophie Petro and Wainui Soda Pops third on 13. Brooke McEwan and That’s Good Charlotte are close behind on nine.

In the EJ Gordon Livestock Series for Horses, Merran Hain and Untouchable still have a good lead on 22 points.

Lisa Walker and Mistaken Identity are on 16, Holly Baines and Pre Mo are third on 13, and Lidy Loffler and Graceful are close behind on 12.

The LP Low Hunter Series is a close contest. Caroline Coop and Pro Fumo are in the lead on 16 points.

Tanya Hawthorne and Dun Believable are on 15, Lydia Edginton and Vanilla Skyes are on 11, and Sage Harding and Sock It are on eight.

The Gisborne area’s next carded day will be on December 2.
