GISBORNE athletes Chris Dawson and Briana Irving were among the medals again at the Lifesaving World Championships in Adelaide yesterday.
Dawson, of Midway Surf Life Saving Club, won bronze in the 50-metre manikin carry competing for the New Zealand senior team, the Black Fins.
On the previous day,Dawson was part of the 4x50m mixed pool lifesaver relay team who placed third in national-record time. He was also third in the 100m rescue medley.
Sixteen-year-old Irving, of the Waikanae club, was part of the oceanwoman relay team who won silver yesterday, competing for the New Zealand youth team, the Junior Black Fins. The other members of the relay team were Sasha Reid, Lucy Makaea and Claudia Kelly.
On Thursday, Irving won the youth women’s beach sprint title and was a member of the winning beach relay team.
Both senior and youth teams are in close battles with Australia for overall honours.
The Junior Black Fins won 13 medals yesterday but still lost their overall lead to Australia, while the Black Fins ended the pool section of the champs tied with Australia on points.
