He jumped on his car roof and pumped his fists in the air shortly after doing a lap of honour with the chequered flag.
Corrin dominated the final race. Going from outside pole position on the grid he got the jump in the start and led throughout to win by 80 metres from the hard charging young Southlander Peter Dickson (11T) from Cromwell who had previosuly had two wins in the preliminary finals series.
"We knew Peter was going fast so we changed a couple of things in the car and I drove the car a bit differently. It paid off," Corrin said.
Wymer shows the boysThe effervescent Michelle Wymer from the Mount (75M) showed the boys behind her in the final race how to do it with a superb drive to take third place.
Gisborne's Daniel Cook (77G) qualified third on the start grid for the final and held that position for five or six laps until he ever so slightly went off line in turn four in the next lap of the 20-lap final and was passed by two cars. One of them was Wymer who was right on his tail.
Cook clawed back one of those cars in front to eventually finish a highly creditable fifth which he was delighted with.
His younger brother Ethan (76G) finished 10th and he was stoked with that result as well in just his first full season in saloons.
Dave Moorcroft (8G), Gisborne's other finalist, unfortunately had to pull off the track during the final and did not finish.
As expected the meeting drew a big crowd of close to 3000 and they were treated to sensational racing, not just in the main event, but also in the support programme, with the stock cars, streetstocks and youth ministocks all contributing hugely to a thoroughly entertaining and thrilling night.
The Sam's Upholstery Services Stockcar Classic was won by Brett Lloyd (92G) from Jason Lovell (67G) and Gemma Palmer from Hawke's Bay.
Gisborne Speedway club president Grant MacGregor said it was an awesome meeting.
"This is great. What a fantastic night of racing and we really appreciate the support shown by the big crowd of fans."
