Waikohu were too good for Whangara Old Girls in their premier-grade netball clash on Saturday at the YMCA as they produced a confident display on attack and defence.

Claydens Waikohu (1) took out the Pak'nSave competition match 63-45, leading all the way.

The quarter scores demonstrate the Waikohu dominance — 17-11, 32-20 and 49-33.

Waikohu worked together on attack and defence and their defence in the midcourt was especially strong. They pressured the Whangara ball carriers at every opportunity.

Ritihia Kingi had a good game, applying pressure as the ball moved through the midcourt and then linking with her attackers.

A good understanding is developing between Waikohu shooters Ashleigh Brown and Arihia Tuhua.

They positioned themselves well in the goal circle, collected various types of passes confidently and delivered some snappy flick ball to each other.

Whangara Old Girls had to work hard, but when they earned the chance they delivered some speedy passes through the court into shooters Reremoana Tamatea-Bartlett and Nardia Whaitiri-White.

Their usual shooter, Tiara Weir, was working as part of the defence.

Waikohu (1) now have three wins from three games in this round.
