GisborneSome players had to be balloted out when 48 bowlers faced the starter in the Gisborne Carpets-sponsored Jack Clark Triples at Gisborne Bowling Club last Wednesday.

First past the post were Gus McCabe (skip), Bruce Gledhill and Chris Hewson.

Maurice Taylor (s), Tam Buckingham and Adrienne Torrie were second, followed by Arthur Hawes (s), Don Green and Dusty Miller.

Lorna Reeve (s), Erin Sutherland and Peter Clay were fourth.

Bellerby CupEntries for the club’s marquee graded fours event for the Bellerby Cup close tomorrow at 4pm.

Entry sheets are up at the three city clubs, and bowlers will need to be quick if they wish to play.

A team entry is required for the LJ Hooker-sponsored event. Play starts at 9am on Saturday.

Coming upSingles will be the next round of club championships. Titles will be at stake for bowlers with less than three years of bowls experience, less than eight years and all the rest on December 1 and 2.
