Close on their heels in second place were Dawne Abraham and Barrie Denham, who outscored the third-placed pair of Robin Jefferson and Beverly Davy by drawing their match with the eventual winners.
Section 2 winners were Boon McIlroy and Adrienne Smiler, who achieved six wins from their eight games and were generous in their praise of those to whom they had lost.
Second-placed Jeff and Joy Davis beat the third-placed pair of Jon Davies and June Stichbury by winning more ends over the two days.
Trevor Mills, who donated the Evelyn Mills Memorial Cup for the overall winners, spoke a few words at the prize-giving. Garth Peck presented the Peck Tray to overall runners-up Dawne Abraham and Barrie Denham.
Pip Griffin, representing Ryman Healthcare, awarded the section prizes.
A barbecue supper was held at the Poverty Bay clubhouse for players and friends on Saturday evening.
Prize-giving was held after play on Sunday, concluding a great weekend of competition and social interaction.
