The primary school cross-country season is under way and the cream of Central School’s crop were found at Waiteata Park yesterday.
Support from family, teachers and fellow students was a feature, with the kids at the foot of the fields receiving as many cheers as those at the front.
Winners
on the day were Toby Broadhurst (Y1 boys), Ruby Carr (Y1 girls), Jackson Pardoe (Y2 boys), Charlotte Willoughby (Y2 girls), Patrick McInnes (Y3 boys), Reave Nepia-Anderson (Y3 girls), Archer Allen (Y4 boys), Bonnie Mason (Y4 girls), Izayah Morrison (Y5 boys), Jacqueline Kennedy (Y5 girls), Jasper Van den Heuvel (Y6 boys), Greer Robertson (Y6 girls).
Top runners from each school will converge on Showgrounds Park on Wednesday, September 5, for the Gisborne Primary Schools Cross-Country Championships. The champs will feature eight races from years 3 to 6.
