“Although our aim was to try to win the trophy we were unfortunate to come second to Australia.”
On Day 1, Fyall won the beach sprint, was part of the winning tube rescue team, part of the winning beach relay team and was third in the beach flags.
On Day 2, she did the double, winning both the sprint and flags.
“I was pleased with my results for the two days, but the highlight for me was winning the double on the final day,” she said.
“For some of the Kiwi athletes it was their first time representing their country.
“They did their country proud with some standout performances.”
It was her fourth year competing at the Sanyo Cup.
“I always look forward to meeting and competing against the competitors from other countries. Some of us have become great friends.
“Japan has always made us feel welcome and allowed us an opportunity to embrace their amazing culture.
“Finally, a huge shout-out to our coaches and managers and to all the families who travelled to Japan for the event.
“Thanks so much for your support and encouragement.”
