KARTING

Brodie Gooch was one of the standout drivers in Eastland Kart Club’s double-points opening meeting this month.

Six-year-old Brodie won all three races in the rookies’ class, ahead of Jay Prosser, Hamish Worsnop and Conrad Gooch.

The Rotax class was a great battle, and one of the keenest contests of the day.

Shanan Gooch picked up two wins and a second placing, while Lance Sutherland took the other win.

Paul Farmer had an epic drive through the field in the third heat to place second after a couple of restarts and some spectacular air time for him.

Aimee Whiteman and Tess Kemp had solid results after moving up from the junior KT class to women’s race motor class this season.

Roger Moss made a good return to the open class after a couple of seasons off.

Don Griffin put on a great show in the Pro270 karts with two wins before he spectacularly launched himself over the tyres in the third race.

With good numbers in the KT lights, the class was split into two groups. Alex Rosie collected three valuable wins. Nathan Williams had two wins and Ethan Rogers had one.

Seth Iremonger had the tyres smoking on his JNR Restricted kart. He picked up three wins, ahead of Cooper Allen.

Hard-luck story of the day belonged to Lachlan Vause. He picked up a third placing in the first race but then had clutch and chain issues.

Drivers return to the track on Sunday, with racing starting at 10am. Access is by Aerodrome Road, past the speedway.
