In the other game last night, Te Aowera fought hard to win their first point of the season, when they drew 1-1 with YMP B.
The match was locked up at 0-0 at halftime.
“YMP B broke the deadlock with a goal 23 minutes into the second period and Te Aowera equalised from a penalty stroke right on fulltime,” Scragg said.
“It was a very even match.
“YMP had a few more scoring opportunities and missed a stroke that could have added to their score. But Te Aowera hung in there for their first point this season, which was well received by a much-relieved coach, Max Malcolm.”
The ninth round of the competition continues tonight on the turf with matches between GMC Kowhai and Ben Holden Fencing Ngatapa at 6pm, and Gisborne Boys’ High School and YMP B at 7.30pm.
