THE hard courts of Victoria Domain will be traded for the sand of Midway Beach. And singlets, sunglasses and hats will be part of team uniforms when Gisborne Netball Centre presents a fun and social curtain-raiser to its 2017 schedule.
From February 7, GNC is running a six-week-long Tuesday night
beach league at 6pm on the sand arena across the road from Midway Surf Life Saving Club.
Many of the normal rules of the game will apply but there will also be variations to the standard game. These include teams being five-aside (maximum of two male players in mixed teams); rules around diving into the sand to catch the ball; all players being able to shoot; and one and three-point scoring zones.
Games will comprise of two five-minute halves. Those interested are advised to get in quick as there are limited spaces available. For more information or to register go to the Gisborne Netball Centre Facebook page, email gisbornenetball@ihug.co.nz or contact game development officer Cristal Kemp at gncgamedevelopment@vodafone.co.nz or on 021-235-1673.
