Poverty Bay

Twilight bowls when there is a power cut is a challenge but the Poverty Bay club's lights came on again just in time to allow three games of 75 minutes to be completed and prizegiving to be held.

Poverty Bay Bowling Club's Beetham Lifestyle Village Twilight Triples tournament was won by Lex Kennedy (skip), Kathy Carroll (director) and Jack Clark (lead) with three wins and 18 ends.

Second were Jon Kora (s), Dusty Miller (d) and Gerry Kora (l) with three wins and 12 ends.

Third were Val McGreevy (s), Norma Miller (d) and Win Baker (l) with two wins and a draw.

This was the first time the club had held a three-game tournament starting at the later time of 4.30pm and finishing under lights at 9pm.

A total of 36 players competed and most enjoyed playing in the cooler conditions. Pizzas were provided after the first game, with nibbles at the conclusion of play.

The club appreciates the support of sponsorship from Beetham Lifestyle Village.
