Fourteen teams took part in the Poverty Bay Bowling Club Easter Tournament.

An optional three-bowl triples tournament was held on Easter Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday players enjoyed the sunshine but the wind was challenging. Everyone was grateful that a little rain on Sunday morning did not interrupt play.

The green was noisy at times as players cheered some incredible shots.

Four games of 90 minutes were played on each day. The six top teams from Day 1 were placed in Section A for Day 2 and the other eight were in Section B.

The winners of Section A were Arthur Hawes (skip), Carol Hawes (director) and Maurice Taylor (lead).

In second place were Kathryn Flaugere (s), Andrew Ball (d) and Betty Herring (l).

Third place went to Paul Everett (s), Adrienne Torrie (d) and Ron Seabrook (l).

In Section B the winners were July Williams (s), Diane Phillips (d) and Karen Pinn (l).

In second place were Brent Martin (s), Goeff Pinn (d) and Bruce Ball (l).

Third place went to Lex Kennedy (s), Val McGreevy (l) and Lesley Seymour (l).

Many thanks to Lex Kennedy and all who helped him organise the tournament, and to the sponsors — Property Brokers, Craigs Investment Partners, Gisborne Motors, Liquorland and Pak’nSave. Players enjoyed socialising and pizzas at the prize-giving.
