The team of Barrie Denham (skip), Dawson Owen (director) and Otto Louw (lead) won Poverty Bay Bowling Club's Beetham Lifestyle Village Triples single-entry tournament.
They were the only team with three wins and six points. Teams played three games of 90 minutes or 10 ends.
All the Gisborne clubs wererepresented in the entry of 42 players. The later starting time of 10.30am seemed to be popular.
Second place, with five points, went to the team of Val McGreevy (s), Ngawai Turipa (d) and Joy McFarlane (l).
Four of the remaining teams had two wins and four points so third place was decided on ends won. That went to Rod Young (s), Trish Leach (d) and Terry Casey (l), who won 18 ends.
Terry Casey was the oldest player in the tournament and tournament controller Jeff Davis pronounced him player of the day.
Terry had forgotten he was playing so was picked up at the last minute. He arrived without his bowls so had to play with borrowed bowls, which is not easy. Despite this, he was in amazing form.
The tournament was sponsored by Beetham Lifestyle Village and prizes were presented by Beetham Village sales and marketing manager and village assistant manager Graham Wake.
