Another team win to PBEC golfers

Poverty Bay-East Coast continued their memorable week at the national interprovincial golf tournament with a second team victory this morning.

PBEC beat Aorangi 3-2 in Round 5 on the Omanu course at Mount Maunganui.

Team No.1 William Brown led the way with a 7 and 6 drubbing of Josh Smith. No.2 Andrew Higham defeated Kristopher O'Neill 3 and 1 and No.4 Hukanui Brown beat Marcus Tessier 2-up.

No.3 Dwayne Russell lost 4 and 3 to Ryan Cockburn and No.5 Shayde Skudder lost 5 and 4 to Cameron Grant.

The win gives PBEC two tteam points and 10 individual wins and they are sitting fifth out of eight in section 1.

They have a bye tomorrow morning then complete the week-long tournament against Bay of Plenty, who are top of the section with a perfect record of five wins.

Only one round was held today in both the men's and women's interprovincials which are being held simultaneously.

Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay women's team, featuring Gisborne players Tessa McDonald and Ellen Ball, did not play today. They had a bye.

They face Manawatu-Wanganui and Otago tomorrow.
