Waikohu’s William Brown retained the King of the Coast men’s open crown at Tolaga Bay course on Sunday.
The Poverty Bay Golf Club head greenkeeper defeated first-time finalist Dan Collier 2 and 1 in the matchplay final to retain the title he has won three times in four years.
Brownbeat Opotiki’s Micky Huriwaka in the semifinals while Collier, a member of the Electrinet Park course, eliminated Patutahi’s Hukanui Brown. Both matches went to the 17th hole.
Other section winners were Eddie Brown Jr (second 16) of Patutahi; Reece Fenn (third 16) of Apiti; and Joe Sheridan (fourth 16) of Tolaga Bay. Full report to follow.
