Bring the kids and stroller, use your wheelchair or your walker, whatever works best for you for the 2021 edition of the Whanau Fun Swim, Bike, Run tomorrow.
The event is run by Sport Gisborne Tairawhiti and the Eastland Triathlon and Multisport Club.
Sport Gisborne Tairawhiti manawakura adviser and EastlandTriathlon and Multisport Club member Kate Ney said the event's kaupapa was all about getting outside and being active with whanau and the wider community.
“If you don't have access to a bike, just do the run and the swim,” she said.
“The event is flexible and is created for the wellbeing of the participants. Just come and have fun.”
Tomorrow's event offers a choice of two distances. Try a Tri is a one-kilometre run/walk along the boardwalk, a 2.5km cycle along the coast and a 100m swim in the pool.
The Super Sprint is a 3km run/walk along the boardwalk, a 7.5km multi-lap cycle along the coast, and a 300m swim in the pool.
Participants can also create a team and do a leg each or complete the whole event together.
The event tomorrow starts at 9am, with registration before 9am at the Olympic Pool complex or online. Entry is $5 for individuals or a maximum of $20 for a family.
