Brad O’Connell-Bacon, with four wins from five races, led home Walker Wallis, Reilly Kendrick (Hawke’s Bay), Toby Smith, Blake Carpendale and William Johnston Priest. These young riders had some good battles.
SPROCKETS GIRLS
Local rider Reave Nepia-Anderson led the way for these girls, from sister Asher. Lilly Nelson (Tauranga) led home local rider Anna Spence and Brooke McMillan of Hawke’s Bay.
EIGHT- AND NINE-YEAR BOYS
Hawke’s Bay’s Blake Moore rode of for a clean sheet of 5 wins from locals Louie Sanders who was a close second and Liam Spence.
TEN- AND 11-YEAR BOYS
NZ2 Tyler Waite of Hawke’s Bay led this class with World 8 Lily Greenough leading the chase in second place. Cameron McKay was third and Joseph Tane, fourth
NINE-TO-12-YEAR GIRLS
Renae Colman-Savage (Hawke’s Bay) took a one-point class victory over local rider Ruby-Anne Smith. Ella Pollock (Hawke’s Bay) was third, leading home Zara Ranford from nine-year-old Aliyah Lardelli, who took a well-earned fifth place, beating NZ6 Aysha Curtis and Kaitlyn Priest.
TWELVE-YEAR BOYS
World 4 Jack Greenough was too classy for this field, beating home Rotorua’s Caitlin Flavell, Jackson McKay, Thomas Colman-Savage, Bryan Tane (Hawke’s Bay), Cannon Merito (Te Awamutu) and Konrad Troup (Hawke’s Bay).
THIRTEEN-TO-14-YEAR BOYS
Hamilton’s Keegan Calkin won this class, with local riders Hayden Pragnell and Josh Phillips battling for second and third respectively. Michael Ranford rounded out the class.
THIRTEEN-TO-16-YEAR GIRLS
Local rider Krystal Smith had a convincing class win, with Tauranga’s Ava Neilson leading the chase in second place. Cassie King (Tauranga) was a good third, while Mia Troup (Hawke’s Bay) narrowly beat Selina Pfister and Millie Bruce (Hawke’s Bay)
FIFTEEN-TO-24-YEAR MALE
Local speedster Dylan Lardelli won this group with five wins, from Bailey Punter (Rotorua). Ethan Rogers, Joshua Lardelli and James McManus (Tauranga)
THIRTY-PLUS MALE
Rotorua’s Dave Mohi took overall honours, from Gisborne rider Justin Nepia. Phill Gill narrowly beat Bevin Pollock (Hawke’s Bay), who was followed by Jason Waite (Hawke’s Bay), Shane Pragnell (Gisborne), Jason Troup (Hawke’s Bay) and Rob Graham (Gisborne).
Organisers thanked travelling riders and volunteers for their contributions.
