“That class is a real powerhouse part of our programme again this season.
“Those young guys are charging!”
The Sutherland Automotive Services Youth Ministock 100 has drawn 50 cars from all over the North Island.
“They will race in two divisions — junior and senior . . . that’s under 17 and under 14 years of age,” Gooch said.
“Some of the visiting young drivers are huge talents, and they will put on a really good show.”
The support programme includes streetstocks(eight cars expected), production saloons (about a dozen cars), saloons (eight) and the sidechairs (six combinations).
“The Cook brothers will be in action again in the saloons.
“Ethan (76G) raced very well in Hawke’s Bay last weekend and is coming to terms more and more with his new car, and Daniel (77G) was flying last time he raced here.”
Gooch said the streetstocks would produce hard racing again.
“Brenden Gooch (1NZ) may have a bit more room to play with than he did down in Christchurch last weekend.
“The production saloons will be as competitive as ever.”
The sidechair line-up includes 1NZ Russell Stuart and Andrew Parker from Palmerston North.
“All our local riders will be racing,” Rob Miller (8G) said.
Miller has put another motor on his bike for tomorrow night.
“It’s the fourth one this season but it’s a ‘bitzer’ motor that I’ve been able to put together until I get my new one finished, so hopefully it lasts.”
Gooch said it was a huge programme tomorrow night.
“There will be 24 races in all, so it’s great value for money.
“To accommodate the extra races, we will open the gates to the speedway at 5pm, and the first race will start at 6pm.”
