Angus ‘Bull Week’ has been delayed a week because of logistics issues caused by the heavy rain, but the 380 bulls on offer look great across all the studs, and the extra week’s wait will be well worth it. Chaps like this from Tangihau will go under the auctioneer’s hammer. File picture

The East Coast Angus Association made the decision yesterday to postpone all the Angus rising two-year-old bull sales for a week, because of the bad weather.

The sales were to have started yesterday at Ratanui Angus at Tuai, with that sale postponed now till next Thursday afternoon (June 29) at 2pm.

All the other studs have decided to wait a week.

Orere Angus at Pehiri will start ‘Bull Week’ off now, commencing on the morning of Monday July 3 in an on-farm sale.

“It was the logical decision given the State of Emergency,” a spokesman and soon after yesterday’s decision was made by the Association.

“Getting people in and out for the various on-farm sales is just too challenging in these weather conditions. It’s common sense to put things off for a week,” he said.

The Orere sale will be followed that same day (July 3) by Tangihaua at Rere and Kaharau off Goodwin Road, both on-farm.

Tawa Hills from Motu join in Tuesday at the Matawhero saleyards rostrum, then sales move to on-farm at Whangara and on-farm at Turihaua.

Nūhaka stud Kenhardt put their bulls up on the Wednesday morning (July 5) followed by Turiroa from Wairoa, also both on-farm.
